Looking for a way to benchmark the 94 St Hugo described previously, we jumped at the chance to open this at the same time. This has been in less than perfect cellar conditions for some time so fingers crossed.
The colour is impenetrable brick red with some tawny edges. The nose is interesting and alluring, with sweet vanillan oak, soft spices, complex and integrated.
On the palate it was full of life, vibrant and luscious with some sweet oak. Also dark cherries and evident but integrated tannins. There is a beautiful balance and harmony to the wine and it finishes sweet and long.
