1999 Glaetzer Barossa Valley Shiraz 14%

The reputation of team Glaetzer continues to grow, with Colin and Ben producing some memorable wines under this label. These are traditional Barossa styles in the best sense of the term. From the massive and alcoholic Amon-Ra, to the Godolphin with a portion of Cabernet, and then this wine followed by the Bishop and the Wallace, they are a great expression of the Barossa region.
This wine has a colour of deep inky crimson. The nose has spicy pepper, licorice, chocolate, rich ripe plummy fruit and sweet oak.
The palate is silky rich, with luscious ripe fruit, supple tannins, chocolate and sweet vanillan oak. The finish is long and sweet.
While now pushing 7 years of age, this is still as fresh as year one. We should be able to cellar this for at least another 5 years. I will try one every few months just to make sure.
