The 2001 Tarrawarra Estate Pinot Noir from the Yarra Valley in Victoria is still a dark cherry color although the age was showing slightly in the hint of brick color starting to develop. The nose displays forest floor characteristics together with some earthiness. There was big ripe fruit and plenty of dark cherries. The palate showed subtle spice, dark cherries, great balance and smooth silky tannins. Great depth of fruit and flavor.
This is from the top end of Aussie pinots and at a little over $A40 is a very good value wine.
