From the home of some of the great Cabernet’s of Australia comes this well priced sibling, yet another example of the supreme quality of wines from Margaret river.
The colour is deep, dark ruby red. The nose has blackcurrent, peppery spice, some earthiness, and maybe a little tomato leaf. Then there is that lovely vanillan oak as well as a pleasant savoury touch.
The palate is smooth and rich with that background of blackcurrent and pepper. The tannins are quite grippy and the wine has a lovely long finish. It’s a really well structured wine that would go well with a lamb or beef dish. The wine may benefit from medium term cellering, but, as always, keep trying one every few months.
