2004 Heartland Langhorne Creek, Limestone Coast Shiraz 14.5%

The winemaker for the Heartland group is the acclaimed Ben Glaetzer, and here I begin to understand why his skills are so widely acclaimed.
Colour is deep crimson plum. The nose shows some chocolate, spicy pepper, pleasant sweet floral notes and dark plums. It’s appealing, luscious and inviting.
The palate is smooth, silky with soft tannins. It’s all about the fruit and its expression in the wine. Plums, tobacco, pepper on the palate, and a sweet, fine and supple finish. It’s not a long finish but a really enjoyable wine. There seems no need to cellar this wine long term, why wait for these flavours!
This was a gift and I have not yet checked out prices, however anywhere under $20.00 will put it into bargain class and a must get for me.
A glass of this after you come home from a rotten day’s work will pleasantly alter your complexion on the day.
