A Good Barbecue Wine


Salena Shiraz, 2004 – this great value shiraz from South Australia is more than a cheap barbecue wine. There are sweet ripe plum and cherry aromas, hints of spice and blackberry and quite a big structure for such a cheapie (around $12). It has backbone and a modicum of style and is rated by Huon Hooke at 90/100.

This is not a long-term cellaring wine and should be drunk within four years.
