The 2007 Shelmerdine Yarra Valley Sauvignon is the wine of the week in today’s Sydney Morning Herald Good Living section. Huon Hooke says:

“The Shelmerdine range is impressing more and more. As at De Bortoli, where the Shelmerdine wines are made, sauvignon blanc is made in a French style with fermentation in seasoned barrels, so it’s not a simple fruity, herbaceous style. In fact, the bouquet is nutty and complex, with varietal character, but also much more than that. It’s fresh and lively in the mouth with good fruit and acidity, but also depth and weight which sets it apart from the pack. It could even improve more with time. Drink now to 2013.”
