Having tried this lovely wine in January 06 it was time to revisit before years end. The wine is from the huge Adelaide Hills plantings of the Amadio family and comes off the Gumeracha vineyard.
First thing to note is that the cork was still in top condition, good news considering that this wine is not likely to reach its peak for another 5 years.
The colour is still deep dark brick red, and the nose shows sweet blackcurrent, dusty French oak, and some sweet earthy aromas.
Palate is rich and quite full bodied with the still firm tannins showing through. There is some spice, a touch of mint, and a sweet and long finish.
The wine is of medium weight and, with its lively tannins and vibrant fruit, a joy with food. It is still fresh and the corks are in great shape so this one looks good to cellar for another 5-10 years at least.
