This Paul Mas Estate Languedoc GSM can currently be found at the new Straits Quay wine shop, Zen’s Wines and Spirits.
The colour is a deep dark impenetrable red with a purple rim.
Enticing nose of ripe plums, or even spiced plums, and chocolate, dark cherries; quite mellow and also a little savoury. It’s quite subtle and the balance is good. It smells mellow and more mature than its three years.
Beautiful wine in the mouth, excellent structure, full to medium bodied with finely grained integrated but quite present tannins.
The finish is pleasantly lingering with savoury and spiced plum notes in happy harmony all the way.
A wine that punches above its QPR weight, and can be appreciated on its own or with something like a cassoulet, or maybe with some of the Languedoc regional cheeses.
And the cork was in excellent condition.
