A cool climate Victorian wine of the unusual blend (for Australia) of these Rhone grape varieties. It may cellar for a few years, however it is superb right now.
Again Seppelts shows off yet another outstanding example of a great Victorian wine. Although indicated at only 12% this wine has real body and power.
Colour is lemon straw with a hint of gold.
The nose shows citrus, stone fruit, pears, and a hint of nutty oak.
The palate has stone fruits, limes and a subtle hint of oak. The winemaker says to look for floral notes, but we saw more stone fruit and limes.
It has a beautiful balance and weight on the palate, and although not a long finish, it is a wine that develops further joy with every mouthful.
We had it with an entre of prawn and crab ravioli at our favourite local restaurant, Delicato, in Crows Nest.
