Colour is deep dark inky red/purple
Nose is something of a brooding monster, with plums, blackcurrant, cassis and sweet oak all vying for attention.
Palate is full and rich, good mouthfeel with all of the above characters playing their part. Smooth savoury tannins balance it nicely and, while not a very long finish, it is pleasantly spicy and supported by the lovely tannins.
Tasting on the second night I appreciated the wine very much more; complex, full bodied and rich and rewarding, tannins are a dream.
While not necessarily my personal preference for Cab/Sauv it is very well put together and a real winner for those that like the fuller, bigger end of the C/S spectrum.
This was recommended by rob Scully, my wine broker at Langtons; don’t think Langtons deal only in the pointy end of the market, this is just one of the many gems they will bring to you, and at some special prices.
