Chanson Pere and Fils Le Bourgogne Pinot Noir, 2006

Chanson Pere & Fils BourgogneThe 2006 Chanson Pere & Fils Le Bourgogne Pinot Noir is the wine of the week in this week’s SMH Good Living. Huon Hooke writes:

“Bollinger has owned Chanson since 1999, boosting its fairly ordinary reputation enormously in that time. Vineyards have been revived and winemaking improved.

This is a basic burgundy that punches well above its weight. The colour is medium-full red-purple and the clean, typical pinot nose suggests dark cherry and spices. It has very good weight, grip and flavour for the price.

Only about 20 per cent of it saw the inside of a barrel but that’s no handicap. A very good wine and a great entry point to start appreciating burgundy.

Best now to three or four years.”
