Tasted with friends Alana and Tony, who had faithfully hung on to this since a trip we did together to Margaret River years ago.
Colour – very dark red with touch of brick, impenetrable, legs that Cyd Cherise would be proud of.
Nose – masses of rich dark fruit, dark chocolate, white pepper spice, almost overwhelming.
Palate – rich, full bodied and unctious, fabulous integrated tannins coat the mouth; stewed plums, blackberry, chocolate, alcohol amazingly not protruding. A delightful acid edge sits on the tongue and it shows no tiredness.
An exhilerating and elegant brute of a wine. Like a Baz Luhrmann blockbuster, it has a big finish and we are not let down.
It is a sublime and memorable wine.
