Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz, 2006

This weeks SMH wine of the week is the 2006 Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz. Huon Hooke writes:
Bin 28 has long been one of my favourites in the impressive and constantly expanding Penfolds portfolio. It bears the name of Penfolds Barossa vineyard but is not pure Parossa, taking in several South Australian regions. The aromas contain more spice and pepper than usual, amid the warm-earth savouriness. It has richness, fleshiness and very good depth and length on a medium-to full bodied frame. Far from being a fruit-bomb, it has a lot of secondary flavours and is starting to build appealing complexity. Excellent drinking now and can be cellared for a good 20 years. 93/100.
Food – Roast duck, roast leg of lamb, meaty casseroles, cheeses including beaufort, compte, cheddar and reggiano.
