The St Hallett Faith Shiraz, Barossa Valley 2006 is the wine of the week in today’s SMH Good Living.

Huon Hooke says:

“Faith could be named after a Lutheran school in the Barossa, or chief winemaker Stuart Blackwell’s wife. It doesn’t matter. What it stands for is great value for money, especially as it’s often discounted well under $20. The 2006 is even more seductive than usual – it was a very good year. Bright raspberry and blueberry fruit aromas are joined on the palate by anise and mixed spices. There are lashings of flavour and supple tannins. It’s gently oaked compared with the more expensive St Hallett shirazes, Blackwell and Old Block.

This is a terrific buy, even at the full price. Drinks well now and will continue to for at least six years.”
