Tasted with friends Alana and Tony, who had faithfully hung on to this since a trip we did together to Margaret River years ago. Colour – very dark red with touch of brick, impenetrable, legs that Cyd Cherise would be proud of. Nose – masses of rich dark...

by Chris | 30 Jun 2014 | Australia, Cabernet, Western Australia | 0 comments

These have been hiding in the Cabernet section of the cellar for a few years now, so an excuse had to be found to try one, and so it was; we were still breathing, and thirst was approaching.I bought these years ago after the following review by James Halliday. This...

2008 Voyager Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot

by Chris | 21 Apr 2014 | Australia, Cabernet, Red Wines, Western Australia | 0 comments

I tried one of these last month but took no notes; it was a special dinner with my son and our daughter-in-law. We all went ooh! aahh! and it was gone in a flash. All I can say here is that it is a glorious wine, and I have some more in the cellar that are just...

This was a birthday present from my wife ten years ago and we figured it was time to bring it from the cellar for my birthday dinner in 2011. We tasted it with a  whole thick piece of farm-bought steak cooked over direct heat in the charcoal Weber, then thinly sliced...

2006 Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay

by Chris | 1 Jan 2011 | Australia, Chardonnay, Western Australia, White Wines | 0 comments

From one of the coolest vintages in Margaret River’s history comes this remarkable wine, a wine that some experts have described as the best white wine made in Australia. Well since there was just the two of us at home for this New Years Eve, we easily conjured...
